CPM EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM STRIVES TO MAKE MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL MATHEMATICS ACCESSIBLE TO ALL STUDENTS BY CREATING PROBLEM-BASED TEXTBOOKS AND PROVIDING THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT THEM SUCCESSFULLY.

IN 2019, IN FURTHERANCE OF CPM'S GOAL TO SUPPORT THE WORK AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF MATHEMATICS TEACHERS TO IMPACT THE LEARNING OF 6-12 STUDENTS IN THEIR CLASSROOMS, CPM BUILT TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDING THE DEVELOPMENT OF C3PO FOR MAINTENANCE OF THE EBOOK CONTENT INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, AND EVALUATION OF PLATFORMS AND CONTENT FOR FUNCTIONALITY TO SUPPORT THE END-USER, AND IS MAKING CORRECTIONS FOR IMPROVED ACCESSIBILITY. (THIS WORK IS ONGOING). CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT WORK INCLUDED CONTINUED AUTHORING OF DESMOS LESSON ACTIVITIES FOR INCLUSION IN THE CURRICULUM, THE COMPLETION OF THE 8TH GRADE SUPPORT COURSE, INSPIRATIONS & IDEAS, AND THE BEGINNING PRINT PRODUCTION OF THE MINNESOTA EDITION OF CORE CONNECTIONS, COURSES 1-3 (THIS PROJECT EXTENDS INTO 2020). PROFESSIONAL LEARNING EVENTS TO SUPPORT CURRICULUM IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINUED INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICE INCLUDED LOCAL AND REGIONAL WORKSHOPS, THE RESIDENTIAL WORKSHOP, INSTRUCTIONAL COACHING, AND IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT VISITS. OTHER PROFESSIONAL LEARNING EVENTS INCLUDED THE ACADEMY OF BEST PRACTICES, THE ANNUAL TEACHER CONFERENCE, THE TEACHER RESEARCH CORPS COHORT 6, THE NATIONAL SUMMER LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE, AND PARTICIPATION IN MATHEMATICS CONFERENCES PROVIDING SAMPLE LESSONS AND STRATEGIES FOR TEACHERS TO USE WITHIN THEIR CLASSROOM WITH THEIR CURRENT CURRICULUM. CPM BEGAN THE TRANSITION TO A BLENDED MODEL OF PROFESSIONAL LEARNING SERVICES TO LIMIT TEACHERS' TIME OUT OF THE CLASSROOM. SOME EVENTS WILL CONTINUE TO BE OFFERED IN FACE TO FACE SETTINGS WHILE OTHERS WILL BE OFFERED ONLINE EITHER SYNCHRONOUSLY OR ASYNCHRONOUSLY. CPM GRANTED MATERIALS FOR SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITY CURRICULUM LIBRARIES, AND GRANTED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SERVICES, COACHING GRANTS, AND MATERIALS FOR LESSON PLANNING AND INSTRUCTION TO SUPPORT PRE-SERVICE MATHEMATICS TEACHERS. ADDITIONALLY, PROVIDED FELLOWSHIP AWARDS FOR RESEARCHERS WITH TOPICS INCLUDING MODELING ROUTINES (OSU), SUPPORT FOR ENGLISH LEARNERS (UCSB), AND THE EFFECTIVENESS OF CURRICULUM AND PROFESSIONAL LEARNING IN AN URBAN SETTING, DETROIT COMMUNITY PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT (SRI).
