To achieve our mission, our goals are to establish, endorse, and promote professional practices, standards, and ethics in the photographic and advertising community; to mentor, motivate, educate, and inspire in the pursuit of excellence; to champion and speak as one common voice for the Professional Photographers and Image Makers to the advertising and creative industries in the United States and the World.

American Photographic Artists, Inc. (APA) serves as a leading resource for professional imaging-making professionals offering outstanding benefits to over 2,400 members and providing essential tools and resources to help them excel in business and achieve their creative goals. This is accomplished through strong advocacy,professionally produced educational programs, outreach activities,internet programs, online forums, publications, lectures, photo competitions, exhibitions and seminars geared to stimulate and enhance the business and creativity of professional photography and other image-making professionals.APA continually provides new member benefits and resources to increase the value of membership while maintaining current membership dues. In 2013 APA committed to a complete website redesign which provides members with more tools and resourcesthan ever before as well as providing a platform for photography buyers to search for qualified talent.Moving forward, APA members will enjoy increasing benefits and tools to help them succeed in the ever-shifting environment of professional image-making.
