INTERNATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS OUR VISION is to bring hope to communities accross the developing world through children transformed by gospel.Mission to Children's assistance program is characterized by compassionate and Christ-centered projects to spread the gospel in impoverished communities of the developing world where children are orphaned or vulnerable.RATION KITS - During the pandemic, MTC pivoted to enable Christian nationals in South India to deliver essential ration kits to families connected with the ministry hub. These essential ration kits accomplish three things: 1) Distressed families benefit from 30 days of dry food and essential items; 2) It creates an opportunity for Christians to bring hope to families through God's word; and 3) Each delivery reminds these families that God's love is never out of reach. 119 ration kits were delivered. An estimated 476 people were helped through this special project during the specified time period.GOSPEL OUTREACHES - Prior to the pandemic, MTC sponsored Christmas gospel outreaches in South India and Uganda. These outreaches were a platform for the Good News of Jesus Christ. Children and other participants also benefitted from a meal and practical assistance relative to each community. An estimated 8,142 were reached and served through these Christmas outreaches. In India, gospel outreached were carried out in impoverished communities and villages of Dalit (scheduled caste) families, lepers, temple prostitutes, and other vulnerable children. In Uganda, gospel outreaches unified local pastors and outreach workers in order to reach and serve children in communities around Uganda, including the cancer ward at the Mulago Hospital in Kampala. EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE - MTC honored the dignity of 230 Dalit and other vulnerable children in South India by providing essential aid that provided uniforms, supplies, lunch meals, and school fees. Educational assistance is one way of keeping children in their families, thus strengthening each family unit.CARE for ORPHANS and VULNERABLE CHILDREN - MTC sponsored a ministry hub in South India. This hub provided temporary shelter, meals, education, and nurture for an estimated 55 children throughout the year. This Christ-centered ministry hub functions as a residential center staffed by social workers to care for local at-risk children. This hub also hosts regular worship services and Bible-teaching events for children and others from the nearby community.VIRTUAL PRAYER WALK - Mission to Children's first virtual prayer walk was launched via its website. This virtual prayer walk takes viewers through a slum in India and includes a Q&A with a front-line Christian. Along with the posted video, MTC developed a downloadable prayer guide full of mission stats to inform the prayers of viewers. The next step will be to complete a kit so that subscribers can do this activity at home with their small group or Bible study. URL: www.missiontochildren.org/pray
PUBLICATIONS - Mission to Children's newsletter communicates ministry and field updates, stories of orphaned and vulnerable children helped through our charity, and Biblical encouragement for the reader. This publication provides content that is Christ-centered and gospel-driven. Our goal is to both edify the Christian reader and educate the Christian reader about the ongoing work of this ministry. The newsletter was inspired by its founder, Dr. J.D. Carlson who commonly used the phrase, Looking Up, Reaching Out as a reminder of our calling as Christians to be full of hope, though living in a world of need. This publication is available both in print and e-mail form upon subscription at our website: www.missiontochildren.org.
