International Bird Rescue is a worldwide leader in the care and rehabilitation of seabirds and other aquatic birds. The Organization's two specialty veterinary hospitals in Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay-Delta rescue and rehabilitate over 4,000 native aquatic birds each year, and release them back into the wild. This daily rescue and rehabilitation work maintains and develops their facilities and their staff and volunteers' skills that enable them to respond rapidly to crisis events when they occur.
International Bird Rescue provides planning, training, and emergency response preparedness services to global companies that manage petroleum products. It mainatins a professional wildlife response team comprised of trained and experienced rehabilitators, veterinarians, biologists and other experts. Preparedness services include wildlife crisis response planning and training for first-responders. Emergency response services include crisis and incident management, wildlife hazing, wildlife capture and rehabilitation, volunteer recruitment, and personnel oversight.
International Bird Rescue conducts rigorous scientific research devoted to improving animal care and clinical outcomes for the animals that depend on IBR for life-saving treatment, whether they are injured by an oil spill, Urban Wildlife Conflict, or other cause. Their long-standing experience and proven results have been integral to establishing the standards, protocols, and best practices for the field of wildlife emergency response. They continually assess new techniques and protocols. They conduct clinical trials to compare different treatments, investigate the pathology of the clinical problems their patients face, and perform post-release studies to evaluate the success of their work.
