Circles of Support and Accountability (COSA Fresno) is a nonprofit organization committed to creating safe communities by supporting adults in reentry. Through mutual care, support, and accountability we foster a culture of well-being within the community.
COSA Fresno served 20 core members/clients in 2019 and engaged 50 trained community volunteers in the work of restorative reentry and restorative justice circles and programs. We provided intensive case management services for 5 clients and facilitated weekly circles of support, accountability and 1-year post release resulting in successful reintegration into the community and increased community safety. In addition to the weekly circles of support we provided direct assistance in the areas of employment, housing, transportation and other vital needs. COSA Fresno has expanded services to the San Diego and Los Angeles counties. We worked with partners to expand restorative services and programs inside 3 CDCR institutions to better prepare clients for reentry. In August 2019 we were awarded a Warm Hand off Adult Reentry Grant from the Board of State and Community Corrections ($498,000 over the course of three years) to increase the number of clients served to 50.
