Organizations Filed Purposes: WE EXIST TO EMPOWER THE VULNERABLE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE BREAKDOWN OF THE FAMILY UNIT THROUGH RESTORATIVE RELATIONSHIPS AND LIFE-SKILLS DEVELOPMENT. WE SERVE THOSE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED FOSTER CARE, DOMESTIC ABUSE, HOMELESSNESS, AND UNDER-RESOURCED NEIGHBORHOODS AND SCHOOLS.

FOSTER CARE INITIATIVE-OC United provides resources and support to caregivers, children, and young adults from the foster care system through programs for parents and caregivers (RESPITE) and aged-out foster youth (THRIVE). RESPITE provides support groups, parent trainings, date nights, wellness classes, and trauma trainings to foster, adoptive, and kinship families. We also provide trainings, tools, and classroom interventions to support trauma-sensitive classrooms and educational environments. Our THRIVE (Transitional Homes Recognizing Independence Value and Empowerment) program seeks to equip young adults exiting the foster care system for self-sufficiency by providing: housing, life skills, financial literacy, access to employment opportunities, therapeutic/spiritual support, mentoring, and a community in which to belong.

NEIGHBORHOOD INITIATIVE-OC United partners with a local school, businesses, and volunteers to develop a united community by empowering parents and children through after-school programming, mentorship, and neighborhood collaborations. OC United hosts a twice a week after-school program providing homework tutoring, mentoring, and character development to 40 elementary students. We also provide a summer school program, SOLful, which provides educationally at-risk elementary students (1st-6th) with academic and creative activities for students to help close the learning gap in the summer.

HOMELESS-THE MISSION FOR THIS PROGRAM IS TO LOVE, VALUE AND EMPOWER INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WITHOUT PERMANENT HOUSING TO UNDERSTAND THEY ARE CAPABLE OF RISING ABOVE THE CHALLENGES OF HOMELESSNESS. OUR JOBS FOR LIFE PROGRAM IS A JOB-READINESS PROGRAM HOSTED AT LOCAL HOMELESS SHELTERS. THE PROGRAM INCLUDES TEACHING SOFT SKILLS (RESUME-BUILDING, MOCK INTERVIEWS, ETC.) WITH CHARACTER AND IDENTITY FORMATION. EACH PARTICIPANT IS MATCHED WITH A MENTOR TO JOURNEY WITH THEM FOR UP TO A YEAR. THE COMBINATION OF JOBS FOR LIFE INSTRUCTION, EXTENDED MENTORSHIP AND BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP ALLOWS THOSE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS TO EXPERIENCE RENEWED DIGNITY, HOPE, AND PURPOSE.
