Organizations Filed Purposes: THE MISSION OF THE YWCA OF NORTH ORANGE COUNTY IS TO ELIMINATE RACISM, EMPOWER WOMEN AND PROMOTE PEACE, JUSTICE, FREEDOM AND DIGNITY FOR ALL. WE ACCOMPLISH OUR MISSION BY CONNECTING GENERATIONS OF WOMEN BY ADDRESSING THEIR CHANGING NEEDS. THROUGH STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS, WE EQUIP INDIVIDUALS TO ACHIEVE AND MAINTAIN SOCIAL, PHYSICAL, FINANCIAL, INTELLECTUAL, AND SPIRITUAL WELL BEING.

THE MISSION OF THE YWCA OF NORTH ORANGE COUNTY IS TO ELIMINATE RACISM, EMPOWER WOMEN AND PROMOTE PEACE, JUSTICE, FREEDOM AND DIGNITY FOR ALL.

YOUTH EMPLOYMENT SERVICES: THIS PROGRAM ELIMINATES RACISM AND PROMOTES ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT BY WORKING WITH MULTICULTURAL, UNDER-SERVED YOUTH, 14-22 YEARS, 90% MINORITIES WHO HAVE FALLEN THROUGH THE CRACKS OF THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM. OVER 41% ARE FROM SINGLE FEMALE HEADED HOUSEHOLDS, 65% FROM INDEPENDENT STUDIES AND HAVE LITTLE OR NO ACCESS TO COMPUTERS TO APPLY FOR JOBS ON LINE. OUR YOUTH EMPLOYMENT SERVICES GIVES THEM ACCESS TO EMPLOYMENT AND CAREER OPPORTUNITIES, RESUME BUILDING, INTERVIEW SKILLS, VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES, COMPUTER LITERACY SKILLS, AND JOB PLACEMENT RESULTING IN CAREER NAVIGATION TO LOCAL COMMUNITY COLLEGES OR REGIONAL OCCUPATIONAL PROGRAMS OR JOB PLACEMENT WITH A LOCAL EMPLOYER. A TOTAL OF 1,250 YOUTH PARTICIPATED IN OUR YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM.

PERSONAL EMPOWERMENT: PROM PROJECT: THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS FROM LOW INCOME FAMILIES WITH NEW OR GENTLY USED FORMALS RESULTING IN HIGHER SELF-ESTEEM, SELF-CONFIDENCE AND PRIDE WHEN ATTENDING THEIR PROM. THE PROGRAM ALSO DRAWS INVOLVEMENT FROM CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS THE NATIONAL CHARITY LEAGUE, SORORITIES FROM LOCAL COLLEGES, AND THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE. OVER 25 HIGH SCHOOLS PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROJECT WITH OVER 205 HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS PARTICIPATING. WE GAVE 300 NEW OR GENTLY USED FORMALS TO WIVES OF ENLISTED MARINES FROM THE FIRST BATALLON, CAMP PENDLETON TO ATTEND THEIR MARINE BIRTHDAY BALL WITH PRIDE AND DIGNITY.

EARLY BREAST CANCER SCREENING AND EDUCATION PROGRAM: THIS PROGRAM ELIMINATES RACISM BY PROVIDING WOMEN OF COLOR AND UNDER-SERVED WOMEN ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE THAT IS TRADITIONALLY UNDERUTILIZED BY THESE GROUPS DUE TO FINANCIAL OR CULTURAL BARRIERS. THIS FISCAL YEAR, THE YWCA OF NORTH ORANGE COUNTY NAVIGATED 5,420 UNINSURED, MULTICULTURAL WOMEN TO FREE EARLY BREAST CANCER SCREENINGS INCLUDING MAMMOGRAMS, CLINICAL BREAST EXAMS AND BREAST HEALTH AWARENESS. A TOTAL OF 35 WOMEN WERE DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER THAT WOULD HAVE GONE UNDIAGNOSED OR DIAGNOSED AT A LATER, MORE LIFE THREATENING STAGE. WE ALSO EXPANDED OUR SERVICES INTO THE INLAND EMPIRE. THE INLAND EMPIRE HAS THE LARGEST NUMBER OF END-STAGE BREAST CANCER IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.
