The Jack London Yacht Club is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to support our local nonprofits and public entities and build community through fundraising efforts and engagement in the Valley of the Moon, Sonoma County, California.
Mission StatementThe Club is a non-traditional yacht club. The mission of the Club is to promote community development through social events, fundraising and friendly yachting competition, and to assist Members of the Club in becoming proficient in such pursuits; to provide a meeting place for the Members; to foster the mutual exchange of ideas and the development of common interests with respect to community activity;to preserve the historical records and artifacts of the Club;to promote social activities among Club Members; to gather and disseminate such information as the Members may desire in the conduct of their community activities;and to encourage an intellectual contact among the Members of the corporation and the Members of other associations devoted to similar pursuits.
Only significant event during the year is the Jack to Jack yacht race. Standardized boats measuring 18 inches long and all built to be a replica of Jack London's boat The Snark. The boats float down Sonoma Creek, .7 mile course from Jack London Lodge to Jack London Village. The naming rights to the miniature boats were purchased at auction by local contributors. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the annual race has been postponed.
