The mission of The Friendship Club is to integrate disadvantaged adolescent girls into the community, teach them important life skills and empower them to complete their education and lead responsible lives. The Friendship Club is a prevention program designed to reach at risk girls before they engage in unhealthy behaviors.
The Friendship Club engages, educates and empowers girls at-risk. We do this by providing a comprehensive, year-round program aimed at developing the whole girl. Not just the academic, social, responsible, or creative part of the girl, but all of those. We serve between 85-100 girls in 6th-12th grades annually. It is a long-term prevention program designed to meet the needs of growing teenage girls, and our comprehensive approach is not only unparalleled in Nevada County, it is unique enough to be considered a model for rural communities across the country.
