Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Russian River Chamber is organized to promote the general welfare and prosperity of the Russian River Area Business Community. It coordinates the fundraising efforts for several local events. It actively promotes the River Area as a desirable place to live and to work.
The County of Sonoma, through its advertising funds, contracts with the Russian River Chamber to provide and staff two tourist information centers, one in downtown Guerneville and one at the Korbel Winery.The two centers recorded 24,379 visitor contacts this year with many of these visitors referred to River Area Businesses. It also recorded 365,248 online visitor contacts. Its office staff is constantly engaging with visitors and guests alike. These visitor centers are vital economic development resources, helping draw visitors to the area and enhancing the visitor experience through information and materials about area businesses and tourist highlights.
The Russian River Chamber contracts with a private security company to provide a security guard to promote a safe and secure environment in the downtown area of Guerneville. The security firm works closely with the Sonoma County Sheriffs Office from the hours of 7:00pm to 3:00am daily.This program is funded by a grant from the County of Sonoma.
The Chamber received a grant from the USDA to implement a Russian River Business Lab. The Lab is intended to be a community resource and a way to offer assistance to businesses recovering from the February 2019 flood.It provides laptops, co-working space, meeting space, webinars, bussiness seminars, and one on one consultants. Professional Services and equipment purchases are reimbursed to the Chamber by the USDA. Difference between the expenses and the grant revenue are due to a timing delay between incurring expenses and receiving payments from USDA.
