Organizations Filed Purposes: EDEN YOUTH AND FAMILY CENTER IS A 501(C)3 NONPROFIT FOUNDED IN 1977 WITH A MISSION TO PROVIDE AND SUPPORT A COMPREHENSIVE ARRAY OF SERVICES AND ADVOCACY FOR CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES OF THE CITY OF HAYWARD AND THE UNINCORPORATED EDEN AREA OF ALAMEDA COUNTY, ENHANCING THE ECONOMIC, SOCIAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND HEALTHY WELL-BEING OF THE COMMUNITY. THE CENTER'S GOAL IS TO ENSURE EACH YOUNG PERSON HAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP HIS/PER FULL POTENTIAL TO BECOME A PRODUCTIVE HEALTHY ADULT.

DRUG FREE COMMUNITIES (DFC)-- THE HAYWARD COALITION FOR HEALTHY YOUTH WORKS IN COLLABORATION WITH SEVERAL SECTORS TO 1) REDUCE SUBSTANCE ABUSE AMONG YOUTH IN HAYWARD, AND OVER TIME, AMONG ADULTS BY ADDRESSING THE FACTORS IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT INCREASE THE RISK OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND PROMOTING THE FACTORS THAT MINIMIZE THE RISK OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE; AND 2) ESTABLISH AND STRENGTHEN COLLABORATION AMONG HAYWARD'S NON-PROFIT AGENCIES, FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS, SCHOOLS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT TO SUPPORT EFFORTS TO PREVENT AND REDUCE SUBSTANCE ABUSE AMONG YOUTH.

PROGRAMS FOR AT RISK YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS:SUMMER AND AFTER-SCHOOL YOUTH EMPLOYMENT AND EDUCATION PROGRAM (SASYEP)--PROVIDE SUMMER AND YEAR-ROUND PAID EMPLOYMENT AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES TO CAL-LEARN, CALWORKS, FOSTER CARE AND YOUTH ON PROBATION, AGES 14-19. YOUTH WILL RECEIVE COMPREHENSIVE, SEAMLESS, WRAP-AROUND SERVICES DESIGNED TO 1) EARN MONEY FOR WORK EXPERIENCE, EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS; 2) EXPERIENCE FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE, AND LEARN AND PRACTICE MONEY MANAGEMENT; 3) ACHIEVE A SENSE OF SELF-WORTH AND SELF-ESTEEM; 4) OBTAIN CAREER INFORMATION ON SPECIALIZED FIELDS THAT MATCH THEIR INTERESTS AND APTITUDES; AND 5) DEVELOP JOB-READINESS SKILLS, JOB SEARCH SKILLS AND JOB KEEPING SKILLS. PROJECT NEW START TATTOO REMOVAL PROGRAM-PROVIES SERVICES TO YOUTH 13-25 YEARS OLD WHO SEEK TO DISTANCE THEMSELVES FROM GANG, STREET VIOLENCE, AND/OR DRUG INVOLVEMENT. MISSION AND GOAL OF THE PROGRAM INCLUDE AN EXPOSURE TO POSTIVE/HEALTHY LIFESTYLES, PEER SUPPORT, POSITIVE OUTCOMES IN CAREER AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT, INCREASED SELF-ESTEEM AND SEPARATION FROM THEIR PREVIOUS LIFESTYLES.

FAMILY CENTER MANAGEMENT-- SINCE 1977, EDEN YOUTH AND FAMILY CENTER (EYFC) HAS BEEN SOLEY RESPONSIBLE PARTY FOR OPERATIONS, FACILITY MANAGEMENT, MAINTENANCE AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE FAMILY MULTISERVICE CENTER. FOR CLOSE TO FORTY YEARS, EYFC HAS PARTNERED WITH DOZENS OF NONPROFITS AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES COMMITTED TO IMPROVING THE HEALTH AND WELFARE OF SOUTH HAYWARD RESIDENTS, WHILE FACILITATING NECESSARY IMPROVEMENTS AND MAINTAINING MINIMAL TENANT RENTAL EXPENSES AT AN AGING FACILITY IN AN UNDERSERVED AREA OF THE COMMUNITY. SERVICE PROVIDERS INCLUDE: - SILVA CLINIC/TIBURCIO VASQUEZ HEALTH CENTER OFFERS AFFORDABLE PEDIATRIC QUALITY HEALTH CARE AND DENTAL SERVICES TO THOSE AGES 0-20 YEARS AS WELL AS BEHAVIOR HEALTH CARE FOR AGES 0-6 YEARS. - HAYWARD COMMUNITY SCHOOL/ALAMEDA COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS (AGES 12-18) WHO NEED ALTERNATIVE PLACEMENT TO HELP THEM GET BACK ON TRACK ACADEMICALLY AS WELL AS SOCIO-EMOTIONALLY. - KIDANGO OPERATES THE CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER AT EDEN YOUTH AND FAMILY CENTER FOR CHILDREN AGES 0 TO 5. PROVIDING A NURTURING AND SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR CHILDREN TO HELP PREPARE THEM FOR KINDERGARTEN AND A LIFETIME OF LEARNING. KIDANGO OFFERS LOW-RATIO CLASSROOMS WHILE CHILDREN LEARN, EXPLORE, AND DISCOVER THROUGH SCIENCE, MATH, LANGUAGE, MUSIC, AND THE ARTS. KIDANGO'S MISSION IS TO INSPIRE CHILDREN FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS TO EMPOWER FAMILIES TO ACHIEVE THEIR GOALS, AND TO STRENGTHEN OUR HIGHLY DIVERSE COMMUNITY. - DAY LABOR CENTER CONNECTIONS MIGRANT LABORERS WITH EMPLOYERS AND PROVIDES COMMUNITY INTEGRATION, INCLUDING ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE. ORGANIZES SKILLED WORKERS INTO MICROENTERPRISES THAT EFFICIENTLY DELIVER SERVICES. PROVIDES MIGRANT WORKERS WITH FOOD, SHELTER, TRANSPORTATION, REFERRAL AND BASIC MEDICAL SERVICES.
