Organizations Filed Purposes:
To build a world of culture and peace by character-based education, successful marriage and family, and service for public.
The International Association for Peace (hereinafter referred to as the IAP) held one major joint seminar co-sponsored by World Tong-Il Moo-Do Federation (hereinafter refereed as WTMF), a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, during the fiscal year of 2019. WTMF is organized to achieve world peace by promoting basic core values learned from practicing various traditional martial arts. WTMF and IAP have been collaborating to promote world peace on many occasions in recent years. The seminar was held in Bay Area, California on January 25, 2020. 48 participants from WTMFs martial art classes and their friends & families attended the seminar. At the seminar, we held a few presentations on the need of moral education and had discussion sessions over the contents. As was in 2019, Master Thomas Sagayo and Master Geoffrey Quilates, both Bay Area instructors of WTMF were the main presenters of the event. They have been regular volunteers for the IAP events last few years. Their frontline experience with young people as veteran martial art instructors made their presentations more appealing to the audience. They emphasized the importance of moral education and explained how practice of various martial arts had been contributing to promotion of basic moral values for many centuries. This time they taught the importance of building a better family and making it a building block for world peace. They explained that values learnt from practicing martial arts contribute to creating a better family. They encouraged the participants to be exemplary citizens with high moral standards and self-discipline learned from practice of martial arts. The contents of the seminar were very well appreciated by the participants. They could see a connection between practicing martial arts and creating a world of peace though these two might appear totally different things. They appreciated collaboration of IAP and WTMF in trying to achieve the same goal, world peace, though their approach is different.
