Organizations Filed Purposes:
A California-based global family of music listeners, performers, producers and educators, forming an umbrella organization for a wide variety of partner organizations and volunteers. Our mission is to the musicians themselves by inspiring and enabling musicians of all cultures to use their gifts in the service of others, through a variety of Listen for Life projects, programs and productions that use music to meet specific needs in each community.
Listen for Life Productions project recorded three different CDs with professional audio engineer, venue, piano rental costs, etc. One recording was live chamber music showcasing young gifted award-winning string players, one was recording an up-and-coming young Russian counter-tenor, and one was a live CD of piano/viola improvisations specifically using harmonies and rhythms proven effective for reducing stress and even the prevention of neurological grooves in the brain caused by beeping health monitors of hospital ICUs. This latter CD (originally called "Into the Stillness") was sold to some hospice centers, nursing homes, and individual users but not released professionally during 2019. It has during early 2020 become the foundation stone of our 2020/2021 LFL project "Against the Noise" (ATN) assisting covid19 patients in ICUs nationwide to calm their anxious breathing struggles by entraining their breath rhythms with the tracks of the CD, and the CD itself is now submitted for a Grammy (in the music healing/New Age category).
Notes for Nourishment (NFN) Projects (see NotesForNourishment.blogspot.com for 2019 posts): Many musicians have a heart of service and WANT to do concerts that raise funds for a cause or nonprofit that they care about, but they do not have the skill sets, contacts or expertise required to organize, publicize and produce a concert. NFN concerts feature renowned artists of all cultures/ages who donate their time and talents to perform free one-hour family-friendly programs for their audience, who in turn donate funds (at the door) for a beneficiary organization chosen by the performers. Since founding NFN concerts many years back, our volunteer LFL artists have set up these concerts in countries around the globe, and in several cities of the USA. In 2019 Listen for Life launched major new NFN series in two locations: 1) A new NFN series of monthly concerts at the famed Mission Dolores Basilica in San Francisco. This series turned into something different from our other NFN locations, in that we gave opportunities to very young award-winning performers (11-17), most but not all connected to the San Francisco Conservatory of Music but competing internationally. These young performers have continued with LFL and during 2020 have created a new dedicated website for NFN (NOtesFOrNourishment.org) and instigated their own online series of NFN LIVE Online, so it has been a whorthwhile investment of LFL time and resources to mentor them through 2019. 2) LFL was chosen/invited to create its own mini-festival of NFN concerts within the famed Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston South Carolina. We invited some of our main LFL artists from across the past 10 years or so, to come perform in Charleston, and we created a series of daily NFN concerts in a new venue there, each day introducing different LFL artists from various cultures/countries, to the Charleston community and the festival attendees from around the globe. In keeping with the NFN mission, each concert had a different beneficiary organization to receive the donations from audience members, and altogether the 8 concerts in 8 days raised a total of $22,000 for 14 different nonprofits in the South Carolina region
Continuing our summer partnerships with other music nonprofits co-producing/funding summer music programs in refugee camps of the Middle East, LFL partnered with LEAP and EAR, two such organizations based in the USA, working together to provide a "peace building through music" program in refugee camps of Lebanon for summer 2019, and we also supported a musician representing LFL in a CulturesInHarmony program in Tunisia.
