Humanitarian activities primarily in Vietnam including nutritional supplementation & education, health and meal support for seniors and orphanages, scholarships, support for free mobile clinics, disaster relief for poor families and communities.

Pediatric Nutritional Supplement Program (PNSP): Provided nutritional supplements and financial assistance to 2275 children as well as nutrition and health education to their parents and teachers to reduce the malnutrition rate. The program focuses on underweight ethnic minority children 6 and under and their caregivers in 16 under-served schools from provinces in central and south Vietnam. The program includes a school based component which provides daily soymilk and a nutrient dense afternoon meal as well as anti-parasitic medication and micronutrients (Vit C, zinc, iron). A second component offers at-home support via an enhanced nutrition and health/hygiene education program offered to the parents/caregivers of the PNSP students. On average, the malnutrition rates were reduced by about 32% in these children from Sept to July.

General humanitarian programs: year long nutritional supplements and financial support to 50 nursing home residents and 100 orphanage children; financial assistance to free mobile clinics and Buddhist organizations to improve the nutrition and health of the poor in their local communities in Vietnam as well as nutritional and hygiene support for poor victims of natural disasters. These programs served approximately 1000 families or individuals.

Scholarship programs: 1 to multi-year scholarships awarded tp 6 poor high school students (monthly); one-time awards to 8 other high school students, 3 poor university students and 1 nun to study abroad.
