Organizations Filed Purposes: TO PROVIDE ORGANIC, HEALTHY MEALS TO PEOPLE GOING THROUGH A SERIOUS HEALTH CHALLENGE.

2020 WAS A CHALLENGING YEAR FOR OUR VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION, COVID-19 PANDEMIC FORCED MANY CHANGES TO OUR CULINARY PROCESS, DELIVERIES AND FUNDING.THE STAY AT HOME ORDER SHUT THE KITCHEN IN APRIL. LOOKING FOR OTHER WAYS TO SUPPORT OUR RECIPIENTS, WE IMPLEMENTED A PRODUCE DELIVERY PROGRAM. WORKING WITH OUR PARTNER FARMS, WE DEVELOPED RECIPES, BAGGED FRUITS AND VEGETABLES AND DELIVERED 60 BAGS DURING THE MONTH. THIS WAS ANOTHER GREAT 'FEEL GOOD' MOMENT FOR OUR RECIPIENTS AND VOLUNTEERS AND DEMONSTRATED OUR ORGANIZATION'S RESILIENCY.WE WERE BACK IN THE KITCHEN IN MAY, SECURING ACCESS COVERED UNDER THE COUNTY'S ESSENTIAL FOOD PROVIDER PROGRAM. WE VERY QUICKLY DEVELOPED MULTIPLE COVID-19 PROTOCOLS, PURCHASED PLENTY OF PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT, AND CONSCIOUSLY MANAGED THE PROCESS WITH A MINIMAL NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS WITH APPROPRIATE DISTANCING ENFORCED.MEAL COUNTS WERE STABLE TO SLIGHTLY UP OVER LAST YEAR, DUE TO THE KITCHEN CLOSURE. MONTHLY COUNT AVERAGED 148 MEALS COVERED BY 79 DELIVERIES. WE DECIDED TO INCLUDE ONLY A SINGLE SOUP CHOICE TO KEEP OUR VOLUNTEERS DISTANCED, THE DECISION REDUCED OUR SOUP COUNT BY 40%. HEALTHY BROTH PRODUCTION REMAINED CONSISTENT. WE DELIVERED 429 MEALS TO LIVERMORE RESIDENTS, 356 TO PLEASANTON AND JUST SHY OF 100 MEALS TO DUBLIN. A NUMBER OF OUR VOLUNTEERS DID NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WORKING IN THE KITCHEN FOR HEALTH AND PERSONAL REASONS. OUR ACTIVE VOLUNTEER POOL HAS BEEN REDUCED TO 1/2, WE ANTICIPATE THIS CHANGING IN 2021. OUR ANNUAL VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION DINNER WAS CANCELED THIS YEAR, WE ARE COMMITTED TO RECOGNIZING ALL THE EFFORT OUR VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTE AND WILL FIND A WAY TO SHOW OUR APPRECIATION. OUR DONERS ARE THE LIFE BLOOD OF ANY VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION, WE KNEW THAT FUND RAISING DURING THIS PANDEMIC WOULD NEED TO BE DIFFERENT. THE 2020 FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN, NOW YOU'RE COOKING WITH CULINARY ANGELS, WAS INSPIRED BY THE TIMES, A FUN COMPETITION, ZOOM GUESTS, MUSIC, AUCTION ITEMS AND A RAFFLE. WE INVITED THREE LOCAL TRI-VALLEY RESTAURANT CHEFS TO PARTICIPATE IN A COOKING COMPLETION AGAINST OUR OWN CHEF CLAUDIA. UTILIZING THE SAME BASKET OF LOCALLY GROWN, ORGANIC PRODUCE, THEY CREATED THEIR OWN SIGNATURE DISHES. A PANEL OF JUDGES SCORED EACH PLATE. WINNERS WERE REVEALED ON OCTOBER 24 AT A VIRTUAL EVENT EMCEED BY KKIQ RADIO MEL MCKAY. THE TWO WINNING CHEFS WERE CLAUDIA CASTILLO HOLLEY OF THE CULINARY ANGELS AND MONA SETHI OF PANS OF FIRE.THE CULINARY ANGELS WERE BLESSED WITH GRANTS FROM THE PLEASANTON NORTH ROTARY AND THE ROTARY CLUB OF LIVERMORE, WE APPRECIATE THEIR SUPPORT.THIS WAS A NEWS WORTHY YEAR FOR THE CULINARY ANGELS. LISA MCNANEY (FOUNDER/EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR) RECEIVED THE DIABLO MAGAZINE 2020 THREADS OF HOPE AWARD, AND THE KPIX JEFFERSON AWARD, ALONG WITH MULTIPLE NEWSPAPER ARTICLES IN PAPERS THROUGHOUT THE TRI-VALLEY. WE WERE EXCITED TO SEE HER CONTRIBUTIONS RECOGNIZED. IN NOVEMBER WE CELEBRATED OUR 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY, AND HAVE SERVED OVER 5300 MEALS. WE MODIFIED OUR PROCESS TO ALLOW US TO BALANCE OUR MEAL PRODUCTION. TWICE A MONTH WE PRODUCE MEALS FOR PLEASANTON AND DUBLIN RESIDENTS AND ON THE ODD WEEKS WE PRODUCE MEALS FOR LIVERMORE AND PICKUP RECIPIENTS. VOLUNTEERS INCLUDE SHOPPERS, FOOD LABEL PRODUCTION, VEGETABLE PREP-TEAMS, SOUP PRODUCTION TEAMS, COOK TEAMS, BAKING TEAMS, DISHWASHERS, PACKAGING TEAMS, DELIVERY COORDINATORS AND DELIVERY DRIVERS.OUR CURRENT BOARD MEMBERS INCLUDE: LISA MCNANEY (FOUNDER/EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR), KELLY ERRIGO, SUE BAYER (SECRETARY), SUE CARLING, LYNN MONICA (BOARD CHAIR), TJ SPENCER, STEVE WILDE AND ANDREA OLSEN (TREASURER). THERE ARE TWO BOARD POSITIONS OPEN AND INTERVIEWS ARE BEING CONDUCTED.AT THE CLOSE OF THE YEAR, WE WERE OFFERED THE OPPORTUNITY TO UTILIZE A NEWLY CONSTRUCTED COMMERCIAL KITCHEN AT IRBY RANCH IN PLEASANTON. THIS OPPORTUNITY WOULD SUPPORT OUR DRIVE TO REACH A GREATER NUMBER OF RECIPIENTS EXPERIENCING A SERIOUS HEALTH CHALLENGE. THIS DECISION WAS BITTER SWEET, WE NEEDED TO GROW BUT THAT MEANT LEAVING THE FPCL KITCHEN. WE THANK THE FPCL FOR THEIR YEARS OF CONTRIBUTION AND SUPPORT. WE FEEL BLESSED TO BE ON THIS HEALING JOURNEY WITH EACH AND EVERY RECIPIENT. WE ARE HUMBLED BY THE NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS AND PEOPLE WHO CONTINUE TO STEP UP TO MAKE THIS PROJECT SUCCESSFUL AND MEANINGFUL.
