Organizations Filed Purposes:
To enjoy Scottish Country Dance - teaching and practicing Scottish Country Dance. Education and training of dance teachers. Encourage live music at classes, parties and balls. Demonstrations of Scottish Country Dance at large assortment of venues. Sales of related educational training materials, CDs and books.
Over 25 classes per week taught by certified teachers for about 326 members, including youth and beginners. Also, demonstrations and teacher training. Costs include some refreshments, advertisement and supplies. Venues are rented, teachers and musicians are paid and fees are collected for each class.
A weekend workshop with a Friday night Welcome dance and a Saturday night formal Ball. Saturday morning and afternoon classes to learn technique, formations and ways to improve Scottish Country Dancing taught by invited teachers. Sunday morning is a combined class of a dance taught by each weekend teacher. All dance events have paid musicians.
Monthly Dances, a dance when all classes dance one a month with dances taught in our local weekly classes. Valentine's Ball, our second formal dance when local weekly classes attend in the Spring to dance in a more formal setting. Jean Patrick Memorial Ball is a dance on Labor Day Weekend similar to a Monthly Dance. Held during the Scottish Highland Gathering and Games in Pleasanton. All dance events have paid musicians. Also teachers workshop. We also send a delegate to the regional Teacher's meeting and workshop annually.
