Statistical information: At least one quarter of the Filipino population is undocumented. Filipino Migrant Center has documented over $300,000 of owed wages to Filipino workers. Over 55,000 Filipinos live and work in the South Bay (Wilmington, Long Beach, and Carson cities in California). 49% of the population in South Bay are youth and students, many of whom are low income and at-risk and in danger of becoming involved in gang and drug activities.
Accomplishments: Conducted Know Your Rights workshops for immigrants in churches, schools, and communities. Held community forums, continued social media campaign, and raised support to protect immigrants. Conducted outreach and educated community on workers' rights and wage theft. Taught workers leadership skills in campaign work. Engaged senior citizens in a community-led campaign to improve health and safety in their neighborhood.
