Organizations Filed Purposes: THE LLVM FOUNDATION'S MISSION IS TO SUPPORT EDUCATION AND ADVANCEMENT OF THE FIELD OF COMPILERS AND TOOLS THROUGH EDUCATIONAL EVENTS, GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS, AND INCREASING DIVERSITY WITH THE FIELD OF COMPILERS, TOOLS, AND THE LLVM PROJECT. WE HAVE ESTABLISHED THREE MAIN PROGRAMS: EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION IN COMPILERS & TOOLS, AND GRANTS & SCHOLARSHIPS. THE EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH PROGRAM IS OUR LARGEST PROGRAM AND INCLUDES EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AND EVENTS RELATED TO THE LLVM PROJECT, COMPILER TECHNOLOGY, AND RELATED TOOLS. OUR TWO LARGEST EVENTS ARE THE LLVM DEVELOPERS' MEETINGS LOCATED IN THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, AND IN EUROPE. THESE MEETINGS SERVE AS A FORUM FOR LLVM PROJECT DEVELOPERS, USERS, AND ACADEMIC RESEARCHERS TO GET ACQUAINTED, LEARN HOW LLVM IS USED, AND EXCHANGE IDEAS ABOUT LLVM AND COMPILER TECHNOLOGY. THIS PROGRAM ALSO INCLUDES EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS SUCH AS INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEOS AND THE FULL VIDEO RECORDINGS FROM OUR DEVELOPER MEETINGS THAT ARE AVAI

THE LLVM FOUNDATION'S MISSION IS TO SUPPORT EDUCATION AND ADVANCEMENT OF THE FIELD OF COMPILERS AND TOOLS THROUGH EDUCATIONAL EVENTS, GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS, AND INCREASING DIVERSITY WITHIN THE FIELD OF COMPILERS, TOOLS, AND THE LLVM PROJECT. OUR MOST SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES ARE THE LLVM DEVELOPERS' MEETINGS WHICH ARE LARGE EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCES IN BOTH THE USA(CALIFORNIA BAY AREA) AND EUROPE.

THE EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH PROGRAM IS OUR LARGEST PROGRAM AND INCLUDES EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS AND EVENTS RELATED TO THE LLVM PROJECT, COMPILER TECHNOLOGY, AND TOOLS. IN 2019, WE HELD TWO LLVM DEVELOPERS' MEETINGS; ONE IN BRUSSELS, BEGLIUM AND ONE IN SAN JOSE, CA. A LLVM DEVELOPERS' MEETING IS AN EDUCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL CONFERENCE THAT FOCUSES ON COMPILER AND TOOLS DEVELOPMENT, CURRENT USES, AND FUTURE POTENTIAL APPLICATIONS. THE 2019 EUROPEAN LLVM DEVELOPERS' MEETING (EUROLLVM) WAS IN BRUSSELS, BELGIUM. 328 ATTENDEES FROM INDUSTRY, ACADEMIA, AND RESEARCH BACKGROUNDS ATTENDED EUROLLVM WHICH IS AN INCREASE OF 10% OVER LAST YEAR. THE TWO DAY PROGRAM INCLUDED TECHNICAL TALKS, TUTORIALS, LIGHTNING TALKS, BIRDS OF A FEATHER SESSION, HACKERS' LAB, POSTERS, AND STUDENT RESEARCH COMPETITION. THE SLIDES AND VIDEO RECORDINGS WERE POSTED ON THE PUBLIC WEBSITE AND MADE AVAILABLE FOR FREE TO ANYONE. THE 2019 US LLVM DEVELOPERS' MEETING WAS HELD IN SAN JOSE, CA AND HOSTED 633 ATTENDEES WHICH IS A 15% INCREASE OVER THE PREVIOUS YEAR'S MEETING AND MAKING IT THE LARGEST US LLVM DEVELOPERS' MEETING AND ONE OF THE LARGEST COMPILERS CONFERENCES. THIS TWO DAY EVENT FEATURES HACKING AND NETWORKING SESSIONS, TECHNICAL TALKS, TUTORIALS, LIGHTNING TALKS, BIRDS OF A FEATHER, POSTERS, AND A STUDENT RESEARCH COMPETITION. ALL TALKS AND TUTORIALS WERE RECORDED AND THE VIDEOS AND PRESENTATION SLIDES WERE MADE AVAILABLE FOR FREE ON THE PUBLIC WEBSITE. THE LLVM FOUNDATION CONTINUED ITS PARTICIPATION WITH THE GOOGLE SUMMER OF CODE (GSOC) PROGRAM THROUGH ORGANIZATION OF MENTORS AND SUPPORTING MENTOR TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT TO THE GSOC SUMMIT. THE GSOC PROGRAM HELPS STUDENTS BECOME INVOLVED IN THE LLVM PROJECT BY ASSIGNING EACH A MENTOR WHO CAN PROVIDE GUIDANCE DURING THE THREE MONTH PROJECT. THIS YEAR WE HAD 10 STUDENTS AND 10 MENTOR PARTICIPATING. THIS PROGRAM IS A KEY PIECE IN ENSURING THE LONG TERM HEALTH AND GROWTH OF THE LLVM PROJECT COMMUNITY. IN OUR SECOND YEAR, WE CONTINUE TO USE MEETUP PRO TO ORGANIZE ALL LLVM MEETUPS UNDER ONE UMBRELLA ORGANIZATION TO ALLOW ATTENDEES TO EASILY FIND LLVM GATHERINGS. WE ALSO SET OUT TO ENCOURAGE COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO START A MEET UP IN THEIR GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION.

THE WOMEN IN COMPILERS & TOOLS PROGRAM WAS RENAMED TO DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION IN COMPILERS & TOOLS. WE EXPANDED OUR GOAL FROM JUST INCREASING FEMALE PARTICIPATION, TO INCREASE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION OVERALL IN THE LLVM PROJECT, AND THE FIELD OF COMPILERS AND TOOLS. THIS YEAR OUR PROGRAM INCLUDED WORKSHOPS COLOCATED WITH THE US AND EUROPE LLVM DEVELOPERS' MEETINGS, AND SPONSORED THE PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE MENTORING WORKSHOP (PLM-W). A WORKSHOP WAS COLOCATED AT THE EUROPEAN LLVM DEVELOPERS' MEETING AND WAS ATTENDED BY 25 PEOPLE. THE WORKSHOP FOCUSED ON IMPROVING DOCUMENTATION WITHIN THE LLVM PROJECT TO BE MORE INCLUSIVE AND INCREASE DIVERSITY AND PARTICIPATION. A WORKSHOP WAS HELD THE EVENING BEFORE THE US LLVM DEVELOPERS' MEETING AND WAS ATTENDED BY 87 PEOPLE. THIS WORKSHOP FEATURED A SPEAKER ON CODING WITH COMPASSION AND A SPEAKER ON THE AREAS WITHIN THE LLVM PROJECT THAT SHOULD BE IMPROVED TO INCREASE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION. THE AUDIENCE THEN PARTICIPATED IN SMALL GROUPS TO BRAINSTORM IDEAS ON THE TOPICS DISCUSSED. THE LLVM FOUNDATION ALSO SPONSORED THE PROGRAM LANGUAGE MENTORING WORKSHOP WHICH SPONOSORS STUDENTS TO ATTEND A WORKSHOP AND ENCOURAGE THEM TO PURSUE AN ADVANCED DEGREE IN THE FIELD OF PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES OR RELATED TOOLS SUCH AS COMPILERS.

THE GRANTS & SCHOLARSHIPS PROGRAM WAS CREATED TO ADDRESS THE RAPIDLY GROWING USE OF THE LLVM PROJECT FOR ACADEMIC RESEARCH AND COMPILERS COURSES AT UNIVERSITIES AROUND THE WORLD. THE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO SUPPORT STUDENT TRAVEL TO THE LLVM DEVELOPERS' MEETINGS AND OTHER COMPILER RELATED CONFERENCES THAT STUDENTS MAY ATTEND AND PRESENT THEIR LLVM AND COMPILER RELATED RESEARCH. THIS WAS THE FOURTH YEAR OF THE PROGRAM AND WE FUNDED A RECORD 46 STUDENTS.
