Organizations Filed Purposes:
The mission of the ACCE Institute is to improve the lives of California's traditionally underserved residents, including communities of color, low-income and working families, and the undocumented population, by carrying out work that fosters deep, indigenous leadership development, policy creation, robust civic participation, and broad community empowerment.
In 2019 Acce Institute trained and activated 250 community leaders in the effort to expand the number of affordable units available to low income and working class Californians. In addition, we partnered with research institutions to expose the problem of vacant housing units in LA and Oakland, cities where homelessness is on the rise, making the case for vacancy taxes and affordable housing development. Finally, we partnered with various school districts to raise the issue of the need for revenue in many of our school districts across the state as well as supports for the community through the model of community schools.
