The African Coalition provides Mental Health Services that is a culturally specific practice that can be broadly applied to all ethnic groups at community level but has special appeal for all people of African descent.
African Coalition immigration has been focusing on education and outreach through contract with California Department Of Social services. The coaliation has exceeded its expectation and reached out to over 2500 community members. Currently, the coaliation has the same contract with CDSS and continue to focus on outreach and education. Through the Coalition existing grassroots outreach programs, we have identified that African immigrants are in need of immigration services. African Coalition serves the communities with African Pro-Bono attorneys to provide Other Immigration Services(OIR) and Naturalization,
The African Communities Public Health Coalition(ACPHC) in cooperation with the Los Angeles Dept Of Mental Health has produced culturally compentent curriculum for lay persons to be resouces for the community. ACPHC through this project has continued to provide increase mental health awareness and education, reduce stigma and promote mental health services. The African Coaliation and its contracting partners, and the community continue to work together to develop ways to make community services more accessible, cultural compentent better integrated and outcome-focused. African Coalition makes efforts to become more client focused, valuing community partnerships and collaborations, emphasizing cultural values and integrity by using a strength-based and multidisciplinary team approach.
