WATER ACCESS PROJECTS EMPOWER COMMUNITIES TO BUILD AND MANAGE LOW-COST, LOCALLY-LEDSYSTEMS THAT BRING SAFE, HOT & COLD RUNNING WATER INTO HOMES, SCHOOLS, AND COMMUNITYCENTERS. SOME HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2019 INCLUDE:1. FINISHING A PROJECT TO BRING CLEAN, SAFE RUNNING WATER TO 23 BUILDINGS AND 120 STUDENTS AND STAFF AT ST.MICHAEL'S ASSOCIATION FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION IN WINDOW ROCK. AZ.2. EXPANSION OF THE NAVAJO WATER PROJECT INTO NEW COMMUNITIES IN ARIZONA AND UTAH.3. INSTALLATION OF 120 SOLAR POWERED HOME WATER SYSTEMS SERVINGNAVAJO FAMILIES IN NEW MEXICO, ARIZONA AND UTAH WITH CLEAN, RUNNING WATER, FOR THE FIRST TIME.4. MAPPING, TESTING, AND REHABILITATING NEW WELLS FOR OUR PROJECTS.5. COMPLETION OF A "COMMUNITY PLUMBING CHALLENGE" UNITING VOLUNTEER PLUMBERS FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY TO BRING CLEAN, RUNNING WATER TO HOMES AND THE CHAPTER HOUSE IN NAVAJO MOUNTAIN, UTAH.

EDUCATION AND RESEARCH PROJECTS HELP AMERICANS FORM A DEEP AND LASTING CONNECTION TO THE WATER WEOFTEN TAKE FOR GRANTED. SOME HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2019 INCLUDE:1. RELEASING THE FIRST NATIONAL STUDY ON WATER AND SANITATION ACCESS, "CLOSING THE WATER ACCESS GAP IN THE UNITED STATES: AN ACTION PLAN" WHICH FOUND THAT SOME 2.2M+ AMERICANS STILL LACK ACCESS TO THIS BASIC RESOURCE AND THAT RACE IS THE STRONGEST PREDICTOR.WE LEVERAGED PRESS ATTENTION FROM PIECES IN THE NEW YORK TIMES, NPR, WASHINGTON POST AND OTHERS.2. ASSEMBLING A BOARD OF 32 SENIOR ADVISORS FROM THE WATER INDUSTRY, TRADE GROUPS, NON PROFITS, TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES, REGULATORS, ACADEMICS AND FRONTLINE COMMUNITIES TO GUIDE OUR RESEARCH AND EXPANSION WORK.3. LEVERAGING PRESS ATTENTION FROM PIECES ON PBS NEWS HOUR, THE LA TIMES, PAPERMAGAZINE, AND OTHERS.4. ENGAGING YOUNG INDIGENOUS LEADERS THROUGH OUR PRESENCE AT AN INDIGENOUS LEARNING EVENT AT RALPH LAUREN, A PARTNERSHIP WITH M.I.T., MNI KI WIKAN (INDIGENOUS PEOPLE'S WATER SUMMIT), AND THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE'S MARCH. 5. TEAMING UP WITH NATIVE INFLUENCER ALLEN SALWAY (@LILNATIVEBOY) FOR OUR SECOND ANNUAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLE'S DAY CAMPAIGN, SUPPORTING NATIVE ARTISTS AND RAISING ENOUGH FUNDS TO BRING CLEAN, HOT AND COLD RUNNING WATER TO 16 FAMILIES.
