Motivating underserved urban teenagers to excel in their academics and character to empower them to be leaders who bring about positive changes in their schools, communities and the world.
Mentoring Program: Mentored 140 underserved urban youth through its mentoring programs at five locations: Compton High School, Dominguez High School (Compton), Centennial High School (Compton), Cabrillo High School (Long Beach), and Long Beach Wilson. Objectives achieved: Students were motivated to excel in their Grades, Attendance and Maturity to Empower them to be leaders. Ninety-five percent of the participants graduate from high school and enter post-high school education programs (college or technical school). In 2016, Elevate Your G.A.M.E. added a Mentoring Through Music Project to this overall Mentoring Program. Through the Mentoring Through Music Project, urban youth at its program sites and outside of the program sites were mentored by using uniquely created music to engage urban youth in mentoring conversations on specific topics.
Summer Internship Program: Provided internship training for 35 urban teenagers from Compton and Long Beach. Interns received 12 hours of job training and entrepreneurship instruction. Objectives achieved: Students were taught work ethnic, professionalism and other soft skills needed for successful employment. In addition, the students learned about various aspects of entrepreneurship.
