Organizations Filed Purposes: EHL leads the way toward a better future for southern California through the creation of secure intact native landscapes where diverse, abundant wildlife thrives, by building sustainable human communities with a high quality of life for everyone, and by protecting rural and agricultural lands from being overrun by urban sprawl.

LONG-TERM LAND USE PLANNING STRATEGIES The Endangered Habitats League is dedicated to protecting the many ecosystems of Southern California and to sensitive, sustainable land uses to benefit the regions inhabitants.

Since its start in 1991, the Endangered Habitats League has provided environmental participation and community outreach for Californias Natural Communities Conservation Planning, regional climate action and other planning programs. Activities include work with local and state advisory groups, review and analysis of technical documents, participation in legal proceedings, comment preparation and/or initiation of relevant scientific studies. In 2020, EHL worked to maintain the integrity of Riverside and San Diego County general and multiple species conservation plans, and with the Orange County Transportation Corridor Agency on transportation solutions. EHL serves on theTejon Ranch Conservancy Board of Directors and on key land protection advisory committees for San Diego and Orange Counties, in the latter directing Measure M open space funding to create critical connectivity between NCCP regions. In San Bernardino County, in 2020, EHL continued its work to preserve one of the last places with habitat for the endangered San Bernardino Kangaroo Rat and to restore the Santa Ana River.

EHL takes an active role in cross-border protection of habitats common to Baja California and southern California. EHL partners with Terra Peninsular and Jardin Botanico de San Qiintin, Baja-based non-profits which protect habitat in Baja California through land purchases and conservation agreements with land owners, and through education progeams for local residents. In 2007 and again in 2012, EHL assisted with important transactions that protected key coastal properties. In 2020, EHL continued assistance to Terra Peninsular for the stewardship of these lands and the undertaking of supporting scientific studies, and, in particular, by facilitating acqistion of an essential habitat element in the preserve.
