Organizations Filed Purposes: Esperanza Community Housing Corporation works to achieve comprehensive and long-term community development in the Figueroa Corridor neighborhood of South-Central Los Angeles. Community residents of all ages and ethnicities are the foundation of Esperanzas grassroots work. Esperanza seeks to create opportunities for community residents growth, security, participation, recognition, and ownership through developing and preserving affordable housing, promoting accessible health care, stimulating involvement in arts and culture, ensuring quality education, pursuing economic development, and advocating for progressive public policy. Through partnerships with churches, schools, block clubs and other community institutions, Esperanza helps to strengthen the social infrastructure of the neighborhood. In all of our actions, Esperanza strives always to build hope with community.

COMMUNITY SERVICES: HEALTH PROGRAMS DEPARTMENT DIRECTS COMMUNITY SERVICES TO ADULTS IN THE AREA OF NUTRITION AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY EDUCATION, DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AND FIRE SAFETY EDUCATION, SPECIAL NEEDS ADVOCACY AND CASE MANAGEMENT, AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EFFORTS BY 16 COMMUNITY HEALTH PROMOTERS AND REACHED 16,688 PERSONS WITHIN LOS ANGELES COUNTY. HEALTHY HOMES PROJECT PROVIDES IN HOME BASED HEALTH EDUCATION AND CONDUCTS VISUAL HAZARD ASSESSMENT TO DILAPIDATED HOUSING IN SOUTH LOS ANGELES. THROUGH OUR EFFORTS WE HAVE OUTREACHED TO 320 LOW INCOME FAMILIES AND HAVE ENROLLED OVER 50 FAMILIES IN OUR PROJECT. THE HEALTHY HOMES TEAM CONSIST OF 1 PROJECT MANAGER, 1 COMMUNITY HEALTH PROMOTORS AND 1 DATA ANALYST.PROVIDE IN-HOME HEALTH VISITS TO FAMILIES WHOSE CHILDREN HAVE ASTHMA. EACH FAMILY RECEIVES FOUR VISITS WITHIN ONE YEAR BY A PROMOTORA DE SALUD AND IS PROVIDED INTENSIVE ASTHMA EDUCATION, ASTHMA-MITIGATION MATERIALS AND TOOLS, AN INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT OF THEIR HOME, AND REFERRALS TO MEDICAL HOME AT A LOCAL FEDERALLY QUALIFIED HEALTH CENTER FOR REGULAR AND CONSISTENT ASTHMA CARE. IN 2019, THE HEALTHY BREATHING PROJECT CONDUCTED 250 HOME VISITS WHILE REACHING OVER 200 INDIVIDUALS THROUGH ASTHMA EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATIONS, TRAININGS, AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH.

LOW-INCOME HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: PLANNING DEVELOPMENT, ACQUISITION, COORDINATION OF FINANCING CONSTRUCTION AND MANAGEMENT OF LOW-INCOME HOUSING. THE PROGRAM HAS DEVELOPED AND IS PROVIDING HOUSING FOR 165 LOW-INCOME FAMILIES.

DEVELOPING AND MANAGING A NEIGHBORHOOD MARKETPLACE AND OFFICE BUILDING TO SERVE TENANTS OF SEVEN (7) RESTAURANTS, SIX (6) SHOPS AND NINE (9) OFFICES AS WELL AS A COMMUNITY CONFERENCE ROOM AND DAY TABLE. ADDING JOB OPPORTUNITIES AND PROVIDING TENANTS WITH LOW-COST OPPORTUNITIES TO YIELD SERVICES FOR THE LOW-INCOME COMMUNITY.ORGANIZING SIX ANNUAL ARTS AND CULTURAL FESTIVALS. MANAGING ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS TO ENHANCE LOCAL RESIDENTS FINANCIAL SUSTAINABLITY.
