STRENGTHENING SCHOOLS THROUGH SPORTS
Basketball in Winter 2019 - Serving 1550 youth (males and females) on 140 elementary/middle school teams; obtained gym facilities, game officials and game operators and created a seven week regular season schedule for school teams based on geographic location with similar age groups and skill levels competing against each other. Held a city-wide playoff period of two weeks following the regular season which brought teams from various geographic locations and socio-economic backgrounds together.
In addition to the seasonal leagues as described in Items 4a - 4c, FIYA offered interscholastic competitions in Cross Country and Track and Field for which expenses totaled $23,500 and revenues totaled $52,700. Through these competitions, FIYA served an additional 2200 youth (males and females).
