THE GIRLS CLUB OF LOS ANGELES' MISSION IS To enrich the lives of low-income children, youth, and families through early education, youth development, and community outreach, which will contribute to self-sufficient, stable and productive individuals.
Child Development & Nutrition programs provides preschool child care, school for kindergarten to third grade, and before and after school care for children.
Community Outreach Programs are held annually and designed to assist GCLA reach its goals and move beyond the physical facilities to reach a greater segment of the population with its resources. Girls Club of Los Angeles GCLA received a two-year grant from First 5 LA to implement the strategies and activities formulated by the Best Start West Athens Community Partnership. First 5 LA Best Start offers services for parents with children between the ages 0-5 to ensure that they have access to the services which support optimal care for and promote the healthy development, school readiness and well-being of young children.
Project LEAYD (Leaders in Enrichment of Adolescents and Youth Development) strengthens and promotes positive healthy lifestyles, and encourages responsible decision making among community at risk youth. Safeness, wellness, readiness is the foundation of the curriculum.
