NATIONAL AWARDS CONFERENCE BRINGING TOGETHER HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS WITH PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS AND SCIENTISTS FROM INDUSTRY, ACADEMIA, THE MILITARY, AND GOVERNMENT SECTORS FOR 3 DAYS OF WORKSHOPS IN SKILL-BUILDING, LEADERSHIP, DEVELOPMENT AND CAREER OPPORTUNITY ENHANCEMENT WITH A CAREER AND GRADUATE FAIR. A COMPETITIVE COLLEGE BOWL OFFERING COLLEGE STUDENTS AN INTERACTIVE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCE AS THEY COMPETE ON TEAMS COACHED BY PROFESSIONALS. A 3-HOUR AWARDS SHOW, AND 4 OTHER RECOGNITION EVENTS CAPTURE THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF 50 WORLD-CLASS ENGINEERS AND SCIENTISTS THAT HAVE MADE EXTRAORDINARY ACHIEVEMENTS IN THEIR RELATED FIELDS. VIVA TECHNOLOGY! A K-12 NATIONAL SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, MATH AND ENGINEERING AWARENESS PROGRAM OFFERED AT SCHOOLS ACROSS THE NATION FOR TEACHERS, PARENTS AND STUDENTS IN A VARIETY OF PROGRAM FORMATS. THE PROGRAM FEATURES HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES FOR STUDENTS WITH ENGINGEERS AND SCIENTISTS AS GUEST SPEAKERS; WORKSHOPS AND EDUCATIONAL TOOLS FOR TEACHERS; AND INFORMATIVE WORKSHOPS FOR PARENTS TO LEARN ABOUT CAREERS IN ENGINEERING AND SCIENCE, THE ACADEMIC PREPARATION REQUIRED FOR COLLEGE ENTRANCE IN THESE FIELDS OF STUDY AND GUIDES TO COLLEGES, UNIVERSITIES AND SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS. THE OBJECTIVES OF THE MENTORNET PROGRAMIS TO PROVIDE TO ALL SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS(STEM) STUDENTS IN THE UNITED STATES WITH ACCESS TO EFFECTIVEMENTORSHIPS IN A VIBRANT COMMUNITY COMMITTED TO STUDENT SUCCESS; TODEVELOP A SCALABLE MENTORING PLATFORM THAT COMBINES THE TECHNOLOGY OFSOCIAL NETWORKS WITH THE SOCIAL SCIENCE OF MENTORING; AND TO DELIVEREVIDENCE-BASED PROGRAMS THAT ADDRESS THE CRITICAL ISSUES IMPACTING STEMSTUDENT SUCCESS. THESE OBJECTIVES ARE ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH A SCALABLEPLATFORM FOR MENTORING WHICH COMBINES THE TECHNOLOGY OF SOCIAL NETWORKSWITH THE SOCIAL SCIENCE OF MENTORING.
