ISC serves our community through creating inspiring, accessible theater and bringing it to as wide an audience as possible.
ISC brings Los Angeles together through exuberant, surprising productions of classical plays as well as new works. It addresses the inequity of access to the performing arts through free and low-cost programming. It creates theater that is dynamic, inclusive and accessible, enriching the community and reaching new theater audiences.
Griffith Park Shakespeare Festival: 43 performances presented free to audiences (Twelfth Night & Pericles, both by William Shakespeare). The festival also provided 4 free family education workshops, 4 free pre-show salon discussions, 8 free pre-show performances by local artists, 2 voter registration drives and write-your-elected official event. Attended by 45,000 individuals.
At an indoor venue, the Organization presented the followings: Iambic lab, a festival of new works, obscure classics, and salon discussions Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare Anita Berber is Dead!, an original musical written by Melissa Chalsma, with music and lyrics by David Melville & Jim Lang A Christmas Carol with Charles Dickens
In the community, the Organization holds studio classes in scene study, summer Shakespeare intensive, and monologue for professional and nonprofessional actors. It executed curriculum, workshops, and performances for 4 schools and presented a bespoke performance for LA Metro.
