Organizations Filed Purposes:
Machine Project is a place for artists to do fun experiments, together with the public, in ways that influence culture. Machine Project provides direct support to artists whose work inspires audiences to imagine new ways of engaging art, culture, science, and community. Machine Project transforms and repurposes our storefront gallery and other public spaces for creative use and civic discourse. In these spaces we encourage risk taking and experimental forms of cultural production.
To provide direct resources to artists who work with Machine Project and the public in ways that influence culture, community, art, and science.
ONSITE PROGRAMMING: Machine Project produced 48 events, 25 workshops and a 30 night sold out run of an interactive performance project in our onsite storefront location. The overall attendance for onsite programming was approximately 2,800.
OFFSITE PROGRAMMING: Our offsite special projects included a two month retrospective show of Machine Project's 15 year history at the Tang Museum in New York, a six week activation of the town of Colgate in New York, and a 4 day activation of Echo Park Lake with a Floating Library of artist made books. The overall attendance for our offsite programming was approximately 12,000.
ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM: Housing for artists-in-residence.
