THE PACIFIC REGION OASIS IS AN EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATION THAT PROVIDES LIFELONG LEARNING AND SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES THAT INSPIRE MATURE ADULTS TO PURSUE PRODUCTIVE AND MEANINGFUL LIVES.
EDUCATION - Pacific Region OASIS designs and implements educational programs in the arts, humanities, technology and various other subjects for a broad audience of older adult lifelong learners. Topics range from foreign language, creative writing and poetry to art history and international studies. In 2016, Pacific Region Oasis provided nearly 500 different classes in these areas and had an enrollment of 6,545 representing 1,544 unique participants.
HEALTH - Pacific Region OASIS offers a proactive health promotion strategy to reduce health risks to older adults designed to increase understanding in critical health areas and to address changing health needs. The curriculum consists of nationally developed, evidence-based programs such as Active Start, Chronic Disease Self Management and Free From Falls, as well as locally offered exercise and fitness classes, and health education programs in the areas of nutrition, diabetes and Alzheimer's education, physical fitness, disease management, sensory changes, mental health, memory and general health promotion.
