The Centers directly and indirectly provides medical, dental and vision care services to underserved and neglected populations in Los Angeles County, including the uninsured, indigent, elderly and children.
The mission of QueensCare Health Centers and affiliated entities is to provide quality primary healthcare to any patient in need in the communities we serve, regardless of ability to pay. We seek to provide universal access to primary healthcare, reducing disparities in care and improving health in the communities we serve.In 1897, the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart founded an orphanage, the Society of El Hogar Feliz, for abandoned and neglected children in Los Angeles, which later became a clinic known as the Franciscan Clinic. In 1994, the Sisters transferred sponsorship of the Franciscan Clinic to the hospital it had also founded, Queen of Angels-Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center. At the time of its sale in 1998, the hospital's four other outpatient clinics were merged into Franciscan Clinics and operated under the business name QueensCare Family Clinics. In 2003 QueensCare Family Clinics applied for and became a federally qualified health center (FQHC), requiring it to form a board of directors independent of the other QueensCare entities. As a federally qualified health center, QueensCare Health Centers is partially funded by grants from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Health Resources & Services Administration and has been deemed under the Federal Tort Claims Act. QueensCare Health Centers also contracts with the County of Los Angeles to provide healthcare services to uninsured residents of Los Angeles. QueensCare Health Centers accepts Medi-Cal, Medicare and some private insurance, but treats all patients, regardless of ability to pay.QueensCare Health Centers operates five clinic locations in Los Angeles, California. A wide range of health services are provided to children, adults and elderly patients in underserved populations at these locations, including:" Adult primary care" Pediatric care" Obstetrics" Dental care" Pharmacy" Optometry" Podiatry" Behavioral health" Chronic disease management" Care coordination" TelehealthDuring the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020, QueensCare Health Centers provided, medical, dental and vision services to approximately 21,000 patients, which accounted for approximately 93,000 visits.
