THE MISSION OF THE PROJECT IS TO COLLABORATE WITH COMMUNITIES IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES TO ENHANCE MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN'S DAILY LIVES BY PROVIDING RESOURCES THAT ADDRESS IMMEDIATE NEEDS WHILE PROMOTING LONG TERM SUSTAINABILITY AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY ALONG WITHCULTURAL INTEGRITY. THE PROJECT IS A COMMUNITY-BASED, GRASSROOTS ORGANIZATION WORKING WITH THE PEOPLE OF THE SAMBURU TRIBE IN KENYA'S SAMBURU EAST DISTRICT, 425 KILOMETERS NORTH OF NAIROBI. THE PROJECT'S PRIMARY FOCUS IS TO PROVIDE CLEAN, SAFE DRINKING WATER TO COMMUNITIES AS A FOUNDATION FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENT. SINCE ITS INCEPTION IN 2005, THE PROJECT HAS DRILLED 100 WELLS, BRINGING CLEAN, SAFE DRINKING WATER TO OVER 100,000 PEOPLE.
COLLABORATE WITH COMMUNITIES IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES BY PROVIDING RESOURCES THAT ADDRESS IMMEDIATE NEEDS WHILE PROMOTING LONG TERM SUSTAINABILITY AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY ALONG WITH CULTURAL INTEGRITY. OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO CLEAN WATER AND CONTINUE TO SUPPORT WELL COMMUNITIES WITH INITIATIVES THAT PROMOTE HEALTH, EDUCATION, WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT, AND GENERAL WELL-BEING.
WELL DRILL: DURING 2019, SAMBURU DRILLED 10 WELLS, INSTALLED 2 SOLAR SYSTEMS AT SCHOOL WELLS.
WELL MAINTENANCE, REPAIR, COMMUNITY SUPPORT, AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS: DURING 2019, ALL SAMBURU WELLS WERE INSPECTED TWICE A YEAR BY STAFF AND MAINTAINED AS NEEDED. THIS MAINTENANCE INCLUDED REPAIR OF CONCRETE, REPLACEMENT OF PARTS OF THE INTERNAL MECHANISM THAT WERE WORN OUT, OR REPLACEMENT OF A HANDLE. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS INCLUDED THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW CLASS ROOM, DESKS FOR 2 SCHOOLS AND EDUCATIONAL SUPPLIES (BOOKS, CHARTS, MAPS, PENS, PENCILS, ETC) FOR 3 PRIMARY SCHOOLS. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS ALSO INCLUDE SUPPORT OF 4 HIGH SCHOOL CHILDREN WITH SPONSORSHIP OF THEIR SCHOOL FEES. HEALTH PROGRAMS INCLUDED DISTRIBUTION OF SANITARY PRODUCTS TO OVER 1300 GIRLS.
DURING 2019, SAMBURU COLLECTED DONATIONS FOR EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 300 CHILDREN, ADDITIONAL EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR SCHOOLS, AND COMMUNITY CAPACITY BUILDING FOR SAMBURU WOMEN'S INITIATIVES.
