Organizations Filed Purposes: Mission: The mission of the Silverlake Independent Jewish Community Center is to be a home for culture, ideas and belonging on the east side of Los Angeles. The SIJCC provides a family education center and community gathering space based in Jewish values and tradition. SIJCC celebrates an expression of Judaism that welcomes people of all backgrounds. Core Values: The SIJCC is committed to: Fostering a gathering space for the local community; Providing a nurturing early childhood education to the young members of our community; Developing a foundation for children and their families to explore Jewish culture; Celebrating together by creating events by the community, for the community; Sharing the values and ethics of our heritage through educational, recreational and social programming.

Early Childhood Center:SIJCCs Preschool is a play-based program - that is, foundational learning concepts are embedded in every activity, not explicitly drilled or taught. Our primary goals are to develop each childs self-esteem, promote positive feelings towards learning, and to encourage social interaction within a preschool setting. We currently offer eight age-grouped classrooms, serving children ages 2 until they enter Kindergarten. IN ADDTION TO THE PRESCHOOL, OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER OFFERS KNOW YOUR BABY CLASSES AND PARENT AND ME CLASSES. THESE ROUND OUT OUR BIRTH-UNTIL-KINDERGARDEN OFFERINGS.

Arts and Culture Center: SIJCCS ARTS AND CULTURE PROGRAMS ENGAGE COMMUNITY MEMBERS ACROSS A WIDE RANGE OF EXPERIENCES. SIJCC IS COMMITTED TO CREATING COMPELLING PROGRAMMING WITHIN AN INCLUSIUVE FRAMEWORK OF JEWISH COMMUNITY. OUR JEWISH LEARNING CENTER PROVIDES K-12 JEWISH CULTURAL EDUCATION TO 200 STUDENTS. COMMUNITY EXPERIENCES FOR JEWISH HOLIDAYS COMPLEMENT OUR SECULAR ARTS, CIVIC, AND SOCIAL JUSTICE PROGRAMMING. OVERALL, MORE THAN 5000 PEOPLE ARE SERVED BY OUR ARTS AND CUTLRUE PROGRAMS EACH YEAR.
