Taking the Reins' mission is Advancing Girl Power through HorsePower. Taking the Reins inspires at-risk girls to act with courage and confidence by interacting with horses, farm animals, and nature.
In 2019, through Taking the Reins' core, gender-specific Equestrianand Urban Farm Programs, TTR served 410 underserved middle and highschool girls at TTR's urban farm. Programs supported girls' personaland social development and scholastic achievement. In addition, tosupport local Title 1 schools' boys and girls, ages 9-13, TTR providedits Urban Farm as a learning space and educational, field-tripdestination. In 2019, 177 students participated in experientiallearning activities in natural science and environmental stewardship.In total, 587 youth participated in TTR programs and enrichmentactivities.
