Organizations Filed Purposes:
The mission of The Unusual Suspects Theatre Company (US), a nonprofit 501c3 organization, is to mentor, educate and enrich underserved youth through the creation of collaborative, original theatre.
After adding five program models and increasing their annual number of youth served by over 400% between 2012 and 2018, the Organization made another sizable programmatic leap in 2019, lending their expertise to now offer professional development and cross-training services. In total, the Organization reached 3,315 individuals through all of their diverse services in 2019. Participants included 1,608 high-needs Los Angelenos (1,476 youth and 132 adults) served through their six comprehensive program models (751 individual workshop sessions), as well as an additional 1,527 individuals for whom the Organization provided professional development, mentorship, and cross-training services. Their theatre-arts residencies also culminated in 36 free theatrical performances that were attended by 2,243 total audience members, including family members, friends, faculty, incarcerated minors, and community members.
