Organizations Filed Purposes:
Westside Center for Independent Living (WCIL) is dedicated to: connecting people with disabilities to resources, training and advocacy tools; promoting disability pride; and building self-determined lives. WCILs vision is that the staff and board of directors of WCIL work towards achieving a world where everyones voice and value is recognized, and there are no barriers to living a full life.

Independent Living Skills (ILS) program. Through the ILS program, WCIL's staff assists people with disabilities gain or increase life skills needed to function independently at home, at work and in the community. WCIL staff educates people with disabilities by providing peer-to-peer support, information and referral, workshops, and/or small classes to increase skills in money management, cooking and meal preparation, nutrition, fitness/recreation, managing stress, finding and maintaining employment, using assistive technology, finding and maintaining affordable and accessible housing, and using computers and other devices for employment. Under the ILS program, WCIL successfully served 2,941 members of the community.
Mental Health Services (MHS) program. Through the MHS program, WCIL's staff provides people with mental health disabilities peer counseling, case management, and support groups focusing on wellness and recovery. Also, WCIL staff provides planning, outreach and engagement with the community, educating them about mental health disabilities and provide information to reduce stigma associated with being disabled. In addition, WCIL offers a peer support program where participants with mental health disabilities are trained to re-enter the workforce. WCIL staff leads the training component, supporting the development of skills and abilities. Then the participants are placed in an internship where they apply their new skills and abilities. Under the MHS program, WCIL successfully served 768 members of the community.
Employment Services (ES) program. Through the ES program, WCIL staff partners with the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) to assist people with disabilities to obtain gainful employment. WClL staff provides job readiness training, assistance with resume preparation, job search outreach and guidance, help with interview techniques and job openings referrals. Employment services are offered in multiple languages to members referred to WCIL by the DOR. Under the ES program, WCIL successfully served 79 members of the community.
