The mission of the Mt. Shasta Community Resource Center (MSCRC) is to empower community members by providing the tools and resources to promote self-sufficiency and enhance their quality of life. The MSCRC works together to expand our community resources through a broad spectrum of successful community partnerships with local businesses, academic institutions, early childhood facilities, senior services, local and county government, social services, local medical facilities and providers. We offer a multitude of services, particularly in the areas of child development, parenting education, youth development, family strengthening, improved health outcomes, access to healthcare, mental health prevention, economic supports, senior and veterans services in both our Mt. Shasta and Weed offices. The organization continually assesses the needs within our communities to ensure we develop and enhance programs that address service gaps and meet community needs. Over 700 children and 325 families were served during this program year through a variety of programs and support services including parenting education, child development programs, parent/child interactive activities, literacy and resource and referral services. During the program year, the MSCRC offered 83 child development activities, 30 family/community events & programs and 26 parenting class sessions. In collaboration with our community partners, a total of 214 older adults received assistance through our Medicare counseling services and over 321 rides were provided to seniors through our senior transportation program.
