Organizations Filed Purposes: Girls on the Run Napa & Solano is a healthy empowerment program for young girls (ages 8 to 13). Girls participate in the preventative youth development program that positively impacts their social, mental, emotional and physical health so that they are more resilient. Girls are inspired to be healthy, confident, joyful and caring starting in elementary school, through middle school, and ultimately lifelong. Two volunteer life coaches lead and mentor the girls through the experiential learning discussions, out-door play activities, and running or moving after-school. Girls are provided tools to choose movement over being sedentary, healthy friendships over destructive relationships, joy over sorrow, empathy over fear and positive self-talk over negative self talk. A graduate is better equipped to be resilient and navigate life and avoid the societal trends towards obesity, violence and depression.
