AHS PROVIDES A FULL RANGE OF OUTPATIENT PHYSICAL HEALTH SERVICES, AND ADMINISTERS MEDICAL, DENTAL, AND COMMUNITY HEALTH PROGRAMS, PRIMARILY FOR THE ASIAN COMMUNITY OF ALAMEDA COUNTY.
To serve and advocate for the medically underserved, including the immigrant and refugee Asian community, and to ensure equal access to health care services regardless of income, insurance status, language, or culture.
PRIMARY CARE - THE MEDICAL CLINIC PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE PRIMARY CARE TO PEOPLE OF ALL AGES REGARDLESS OF THEIR ABILITY TO PAY. THIS CARE IS PROVIDED ACROSS THREE SITES AND IN A LANGUAGE AND CULTURALLY APPROPRIATE WAY. AHS PROVIDES SERVICES IN TEN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES. ALONG WITH PRENATAL, PEDIATRIC AND ADULT SERVICES, IT ALSO HAS EXPERTISE IN THE SPECIAL DISEASES OF THE ASIAN IMMIGRANT POPULATION: TUBERCULOSIS, DIABETES, HEPATITIS B, PARASITIC INFECTIONS, AND CERTAIN CANCERS. AHS HAS SPECIAL CLINIC SESSIONS DEVOTED TO MINOR SURGERY, CARDIOLOGY, DERMATOLOGY, NEUROLOGY AND GASTROENTEROLOGY. IT ALSO PROVIDES CASE MANAGEMENT FOR PRENATAL PATIENTS, ADOLESCENTS, AND PATIENTS WITH HIV.
ORAL HEALTH CARE - THE DENTAL CLINIC PROVIDES SERVICES TO THE UNDERSERVED ASIAN AND PACIFIC ISLANDER POPULATION OF ALAMEDA COUNTY. BUILDING UPON ITS CAPACITY TO PROVIDE A CONTINUUM OF CARE TO PATIENTS, THE DENTAL CLINIC COMPLEMENTS THE ASIAN HEALTH SERVICES PRIMARY CARE PROGRAMS. AHS CONTINUES TO ENHANCE ACCESS TO DENTAL CARE THAT IS CULTURALLY AND LINGUISTICALLY APPROPRIATE WITH FOCUS ON PREVENTATIVE CARE SERVICES FOR PERINATAL WOMEN, CHILDREN, AND DIABETIC PATIENTS.
SPECIALTY MENTAL HEALTH - AHS SPECIALTY MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIANS AND STAFF WORK COLLABORATIVELY WITH AHS MEDICAL AND DENTAL PROVIDERS AND BEHAVIORAL SPECIALIST TO PROVIDE SPECIALIZED SERVICES TO CHILDREN, YOUTH AND ADULTS EXPERIENCING MODERATE TO SEVERE MENTAL HEALTH ILLNESS, INCLUDING: ASSESSMENT, THERAPY, MEDICATION, CASE MANAGEMENT, CRISIS INTERVENTION, HOTLINE RESPONSE, PREVENTION AND EDUCATION, ADVOCACY, SUPPORT AND REFERRAL SERVICES. STAFF ARE BILLINGUAL AND BICULTURAL IN BURMESE, CANTONESE, JAPANESE, KAREN, KHMER, MANDARIN, MIEN TAGALOG, VIETNAMESE AND ENGLISH.
