EERI envisions a world in which potential earthquake losses are widely understood and for which prudent steps have been taken to address those risks. The role of EERI is to be a leader in earthquake investigations and in the dissemination of earthquake risk reduction information both in the U.S. and globally in cooperation with its international partners. EERI will fulfill its role through the following activities: (1) Fostering a sense of shared commitment among the diverse communities dedicated to earthquake risk management; (2) Promoting research; (3) Facilitating the exchange of information among members and others; and (4) Forging a consensus and speaking with a common voice to public forums and legislative bodies on behalf of the diverse risk management community.
