Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Estria Foundation creates art in public spaces locally and globally with artists, youth, educators, and activists in order to raise awareness and inspire action in the movement to resolve human and environmental issues.
Mele Murals:Our Mele Murals program has and continues to receive community and financial support. Since 2014 we have completed 47 murals across the state of Hawaii. Mele Murals has served 3 islands, over 5,000 people, and two other countries.As community demand for Mele Murals continues to be highly requested we continue to offer credited classes at a local high school. Our afterschool art classes continues to attract kids from neighboring feeder schools twice a week. We also provided 35 teachers curriculum and professional development classes so that our teachings and methodology can serve an estimated 2000 more students per semester, without increasing staff size. We also included a summer program this year and served 22 students during a 5 week program. We raised funding to provide this all day program to kids who were either part native Hawaiian and/or in financial need. Our summer program included meals, field trips to significant Hawaiian culture sights, art activities and lessons, history on Hawaiian culture and the land, as well as a mural.
