Organizations Filed Purposes: The Freedom Story prevents child trafficking and exploitation through culturally relevant programs for vulnerable children and shares their stories to empower creative, compassionate people to act.

Thailand Programs & Freedom - The Freedom Story was born from a documentary film called "The Sold Project". When our founder Rachel Sparks learned about child sexual exploitation in Thailand, she decided to expose it through the power of film. After interviewing dozens of sex workers, common themes became apparent poverty, a lack of education, and a lack of options. Rachel responded by providing a scholarship to an at-risk student, and thus the Freedom Story was born. Our scholarships and resources empower at-risk Thai students to stay in school, pursue their dreams, and break the cycle of poverty and exploitation. Our efforts in the US are centered around raising funds to make this empowerment possible and tell dignifying stories. In 2018, we provided scholarships to 95 students. 27 scholarship students graduated from various school levels: Middle school, High school, University. Resources at our Pong Prae and Chiang Rai resource centers have been accessed over 4,800 times. 419 students, 1,991 parents, NGO, school and government staff have gone through our awareness and human rights training. 270 students came to our English camp to gain exposure to and learn to speak some English. 65 students participated in our online sexual exploitation awareness workshop. 45 students participated in our anti-drug campaign run with local police. At least 90 students took part in our 3-3-5 trainings, which help raise awareness about and prevent child abuse. At least 29 individual community members accessed over 48 sessions of counseling. At least 100 female village leaders were trained on trauma and domestic abuse. At least 480 villagers participated in our sustainability programs, which teach about textile making from farming silkworms, to harvest, to weaving and dyeing with natural indigo, and marketing, as supplemental sources of income from subsistence level farmers. 15 students planned, wrote and filmed a short film about online sexual exploitation which has been viewed over 250 times.
