Organizations Filed Purposes: Through outdoor education courses that follow our Leadership Progression Model, diverse cohorts of girls and gender non-conforming youth backpack, hike, kayak and rock climb as they experience the wonders of the Northern California wilderness. In 2018, we delivered over 12,000 program hours, which ranged from 30 to more than 300 hours per participant, making a deep and lasting impact on each of the 125 girls we served. By implementing the courses in this Model, girls were able to develop their skills as they progressed through our courses: In our six summer expeditions, girls experienced the challenges and rewards of the California wilderness during 7-14 day expeditions that included backpacking, kayaking, and rock climbing. They learned about conservation, identity, respect, conflict resolution, and social and environmental justice, allowing them to recognize their inner value and build meaningful relationships across boundaries that might otherwise divide them. GIRLVENTURES' MISSION IS TO INSPIRE GIRLS TO LEAD THROUGH OUTDOOR ADVENTURE, INNER DISCOVERY, AND COLLECTIVE ACTION. AS THE ONLY NONPROFIT OF ITS KIND, GIRLVENTURES COMBINES OUTDOOR ADVENTURE WITH SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FOR ADOLESCENT GIRLS AND GENDER EXPANSIVE YOUTH, AGES 11-19.

School year programs including Girls Climb On, a rock climbing program in San Francisco and Oakland that pairs participants with adult mentors, and the Youth Advisory Board, which allows program graduates to engage in leadership, professional development, and community service activities, and to input on GirlVentures program strategies.

Community courses for affinity groups, including girls of color and LGBTQ youth and their allies, outside of regular programming, including outdoor education, afterschool enrichment, and leadership development.

Immersive wilderness summer programs, where girls in Middle and High School participate in 7-14 day outdoor education and leadership expeditions that include backpacking, kayaking, and rock climbing. Alumnae also participate as Assistant Instructors to further build their career and leadership skills.
