Leonardo Publishing ProgramLeonardo/ISAST serves as critical content provider through our Publications Program scholarly journals published by MIT Press (LEONARDO and Leonardo Music Journal [LMJ]), the Leonardo Book Series (MIT Press), Leonardo Electronic Almanac (MIT Press), and the Leonardo family of websites and experimental projects on evolving digital platforms.LEONARDO is published five times per year; LMJ is published annually. The total number of subscribers in 2019 was over 10,500. In addition, individual articles from current and past issues were downloaded from various platforms more than 417,500 times.Four new titles were published in the Book Series, bringing the total catalog to 65. Sales have totaled approximately 6,000.

Art/Science ResidenciesLeonardo/ISAST conducts two residency programs. The Scientific Delirium Madness Art/Science Residency is a collaboration with the Djerassi Resident Artists Program that brings together artists and scientists for a month-long retreat in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Each year, six of the worlds distinguished scientists and six forward-thinking artists are selected from hundreds of applicants and nominees to participate. During the course of the residency, choreographers, composers, writers, visual artists, physicists, biologists and engineers work alongside one another to expand their own work and to inspire others.In addition to collegial time, the artists and scientists contribute to a regular series of blogs, LASER (Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous) events, an Open House/Open Studio public gathering at the Djerassi Program, Art/Science blog, and a special section in the journal LEONARDO.Leonardo/ISAST and the Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.) program at Nokia Bell Labs are both renowned institutions known for their contributions to arts research in engineering and science. In 2019, they launched a joint residency in Silicon Valley that brings in art researchers with an interest in science and engineering to spend six weeks at Nokia Bell Labs facilities.

Lecture/Networking SeriesLASER (Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous) is Leonardo/ISASTs international program of free evening gatherings that bring artists and scientists together for informal presentations and conversations. The mission of the LASERs is to provide the general public with a snapshot of the cultural environment of a region and to foster interdisciplinary networking. Founded in 2008, LASER Talks have taken place in more than 30 cities around the world. In 2019, 47 distinct LASER Talks comprising 196 total events were held, drawing over 14,000 attendees.In 2019, Leonardo/ISAST also held live Book Club discussions to features authors from LEONARDO journal and the Leonardo Book Series. Discussions were live-streamed and invited audience participation and questions. Eight events were held, with over 4,400 participants.
