Organizations Filed Purposes:
The NCEO is a self-sustaining nonprofit organization that provides practical resources and objective, reliable information about employee ownership to businesses, employees, and the public.
EVENTS: We provided almost 54,000 person-hours of education in 2019. Our 2019 annual conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, had 1,964 attendees, which is an increase over our previous largest conference, 2018 in Atlanta. We offered over 140 breakout sessions, small group networking and problem solving, and several plenary events, presentations on international employee ownership, and 100% of respondents to our overall survey stated that they would recommend this conference to others. Our Fall ESOP Forum set a record as well, with 501 attendees, increasing our person-days of attendance dramatically. Average attendance at our webinars remained at last year's all-time high of 44 people per webinar. The meetings and webinars focus on topics such as governance, mature ESOPs, communications, executive compensation, and repurchase issues.
RESEARCH: In addition to ongoing research projects, such as our regular releases of analysis on the data collected by the Department of Labor, our employee ownership 100 list, and corporate governance, in 2019 we released a first-of-its-kind research on enforcement activity by the Department of Labor. We also include our employee surveys in this category. In 2019 we surveyed 9 companies with 3,240 employee-owners and continued developing the support we provide companies to take advantage of the results. OUTREACH: Our major outreach accomplishment in 2019 was the launch of our new website, which automates many of our member benefits. TRAINING: The preparation course for candidates in the Certified Equity Professional Institute is the vast majority of our training activities.
PUBLICATIONS: In 2019, we offered over 70 publications. We sold about 16,000 units, including books, issue briefs, and electronic documents, which is a slight decline from 2018. Our publications range from full-length books about all aspects of employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) and equity compensation to more topical issue briefs.
