Organizations Filed Purposes: Interfaith Power & Light (IPL) inspires and mobilizes people of faith and conscience to take bold and just action on climate change.

The mission of The Regeneration Project is to deepen the connection between ecology and faith. Our primary focus at this time is the Interfaith Power & Light campaign.

National program expenditures funded our national campaigns and programs, from organizational support for state affiliates, to policy advocacy, to national educational campaigns. A few highlights were: our national conference in Maryland, which brought IPL affiliates from 26 states together to share best practices and collaborate on program planning, a campaign in support of the clean car standards with a focus on Ford Motor Company, and our presidents Faith and Science speaking tour of Southeastern states. In 2019 IPL earned 1,400 news media mentions and hundreds of social media posts, generating millions of impressions. We regularly communicated with over 80,000 people on our email list and reached more than 22,000 congregations. In addition, our staff and board leaders addressed dozens of faith community gatherings around the country.

The next largest portion of our program expenses was distributed in support grants to state affiliates. State IPLs educated their congregations about global warming, facilitated congregations going green, advocated for the maintenance of federal climate and clean energy standards in the face of proposed rollbacks, and stronger vehicle emissions standards.

California Interfaith Power & Light (CIPL) educated its 712 member congregations about global warming and advocated for equitable and effective climate policies at the state level. Highlights of the year included work with local clean energy agencies to support renewable energy adoption and to help congregations be centers of resiliency for their communities. We also helped congregations learn about and install solar and EV charging stations. We advocated for policies at the state level to reduce single use plastic and to limit the harmful impacts of oil and gas drilling in neighborhoods.
