Restore Bay HabitatRestore tidal marsh habitat for Bay wildlife and adaptation to sea level rise from climate change, through policy and regulatory initiatives, increasing public funding, and direct revegetation of shoreline parcels. Our successful restoration and enhancement of tidal marsh eco-tone habitat applies scientific techniques, propagation of native plants, and mobilizing community volunteers. We re-establish native vegetation that improves Bay health and helps the region adapt to climate change.
Education and OutreachWe build, educate and engage an effective constituency of active Bay supporters, informed Bay leaders, and partners to achieve Save The Bays strategic goals. Save The Bay engages more than 50,000 supporters, students, businesses and community members to protect and restore San Francisco Bay through volunteer restoration programs and civic engagement campaigns. We lead the regions annual celebration of Bay Day.
Bay Smart CommunitiesPromote Bay Smart communities upstream and upland from the shoreline by shaping local, state and federal policies that reduce pollution of the Bay. We are establishing green infrastructure standards and working with cities to implement them, so Bay Area development emits less stormwater pollution, consumes less fresh water and makes communities more resilient to climate change. We work for enforcement of regional regulations to achieve zero trash in the Bay, and to prevent destructive Bay development.
