Organizations Filed Purposes:
Our mission is to improve the economic education and financial literacy of Bay Area Youth.
1. Teacher Workshops. BAFEF produces workshops for high school economics teachers. The workshops are provided free of charge, and a stipend is given to each teacher who attends. Teachers receive instruction from university professors and industry professionals on topics including personal finance, microeconomics, macroeconomics and the fiscal impact of public policy. Each workshop has a direct expense budget of $10,000 which includes space rent, printing & materials, supplies, A/V expenses, food & beverage, teacher stipends, speaker fees and staff time. The workshops served 75 teachers who will teach 7500 students.
2. Annual Wine Tasting Event. This annual event connects volunteers and supporters with our program partners and leadership for an evening of education and networking. Sponsors for the event are solicited from corporations who support financial literacy initiatives. In 2019, the event cost was $3,656 which included catering, room rental and staff time to organize the event. Contributions of $2,000 were received from the 2019 event. Approximately 100 attendees participate in the event, and wine poured at the event is donated by sponsoring wineries.
3. International Women's Day Event. We produce an event in partnership with the Bay Area Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship to coincide with International Women's Day. The event is a luncheon and workshop which matches women in finance who volunteer, with young female students from underserved Bay Area high schools for an afternoon of mentoring. The event cost approximately $12,931 in 2019, which included the cost of lunch, signage and staff time to organize the event.
