Organizations Filed Purposes:
We manage sponsorships for impoverished, marginalized girls and boys in the residential program at Prashanti School, Puri, India. We raise funds to support their living expenses, tuition, daily tutoring, medical/dental/vision care, clothing, housing and food.
Accomplishments: We provided full support for 38 female and male students, ages 5 through 21, including housing, food, clothing, medical care, tutoring, tuition (elementary school, high school, college, university and vocational as required), books, school uniforms, school supplies and transportation costs. This funding also paid for 24-hour caregiving and other support staff for the residential students, site maintenance costs, supplementation of teacher and tutor salaries, and for cultural activities and training for the students.
Accomplishments for 2020 include the following: Covid-19 Emergency Relief: 1) Emergency food packets for Prashanti School families during shutdown. 2) Provided large quantities of essential food items to 170 destitute families not receiving adequate food from government programs. 3) Subsidized 80 PIS village families in greatest need due to loss of income during the pandemic shutdown for school tuition, cost of books, uniforms, etc. For Prashanti International School (PIS): 1) Inaugurated the new school building. 2) Installed new entry gates to the school grounds. 3) Graded and pavedg the property against flooding. 4) Installed storm drains and water harvesting systems. 5) Built a basketball court and a large outdoor stage. 6) Installed fiber-optic broadband internet connection.For Prashanti School Hostel: 1) Provided needed repair and upgrades including a new septic system for the boys dorm, renovated the kitchen, new refrigerator, new water tanks, interior and exterior painting of the hostel, and repairing the boundary wall. 2) Purchased new sewing machine and computers.Other: 1) Planted dozens of trees at both Hostel and PIS school site to replace those destroyed by Cyclone Fani. Procured a weed cutter to keep the grounds clear and free of cobras. 2) Instituted strict safety measures to protect against coronavirus including wearing masks, building extra desks and benches for proper physical distancing, and installing hands-free hand sanitizing stations.
Accomplishments: 1) funding to Prashanti Bala Mandira Trust for the support of 9 college students room and board and warden fees. 2) Support for 1 high school students fees, room and board and warden fees.
