Organizations Filed Purposes: FOR OVER 40 YEARS FOOD SHARE HAS BEEN FEEDING THE HUNGRY IN VENTURA COUNTY. IT ALL BEGAN WHEN EIGHT FRIENDS BANDED TOGETHER TO PROVIDE FOOD TO THOSE IN NEED UNDER A BRIDGE IN VENTURA, CA. THE EARLY PHILANTHROPIC MOVEMENT STARTED IN A FAMILY GARAGE, QUICKLY OUTGREW AN UNUSED, DONATED FIRESTATION IN SATICOY AND NOW OPERATES IN OXNARD, CA WITH TWO WAREHOUSES WITH A COMBINED 36,000 SQUARE FEET. TODAY STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS DISTRIBUTE MORE THAN 17 MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD, OR 14 MILLION MEALS ANNUALLY THROUGH ITS 190 PANTRY AND PROGRAM PARTNERS. AS VENTURA COUNTY'S ONLY REGIONAL FOOD BANK, FOOD SHARE PROVIDES FOOD FOR 75,000 HUNGRY FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS MONTHLY. FOOD SHARE IS A MEMBER OF FEEDING AMERICA, THE NATION'S LARGEST HUNGER-RELIEF NETWORK OF FOOD BANKS, AS WELL AS THE CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF FOOD BANKS.

SINCE 1984, FOOD SHARE HAS BEEN FEEDING THE HUNGRY IN VENTURA COUNTY WITH 10 MILLION MEALS ANNUALLY.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM - NEARLY 200 PANTRY AND PARTNER AGENCIES PROVIDE THE DEDICATION AND COMMITMENT TO SUPPORT FOOD SHARE'S PROGRAMS OF FOOD PANTRIES, DISTRIBUTING OF SHELF-STABLE FOOD AND FRESH PRODUCE TO NEARLY 75,000 VENTURA COUNTY RESIDENTS. THESE AGENCIES HELPED DELIVER OVER 17 MILLION POUNDS OF NUTRITIOUS FOOD IN FISCAL YEAR 2019-2020.

UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE (USDA) FUNDED NUTRITION PROGRAMS - COMMODITY SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD PROGRAM (CSFP) AND THE EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (TEFAP) FOOD DISTRIBUTIONS. CSFP PROVIDES A MONTHLY "SENIOR KIT " TO LOW-INCOME SENIORS (AGED 60-PLUS) AT NO COST; 1.2 MILLION POUNDS WERE DISTRIBUTED IN FISCAL YEAR 2019-2020. TEFAP ALLOWS FOR FOOD DISTRIBUTION TO LOW INCOME AREAS OF VENTURA COUNTY, FOOD IS DISTRIBUTED AT NO COST TO ELIGIBLE RECIPIENTS; OVER 2.5 MILLION POUNDS WERE DISTRIBUTED IN FISCAL YEAR 2019-2020.

DISASTER SERVICES AND MOBILE PANTRY: FOOD SHARE CONTINUED TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL POUNDS OF FOOD TO DISASTER RELIEF EFFORTS RESULTING FROM THE 2017 THOMAS FIRE AND DEBRIS FLOW IN MONTECITO, CA, AND THE 2018 WOOLSEY/HILL FIRES.
